Welcome to the Ranch
We are the Smiths and we are thrilled to share a piece of our family’s story with you. Buckethead Ranch was purchased by our family in 2020. After selling our Southern Colorado hunting ranch, we wanted a place that everyone could enjoy, hunters and non-hunters alike. The ranch’s proximity to the charming town of Steamboat Springs and its world class ski mountain made the Yampa Valley the perfect place to call our next home away from home.
You might be thinking, what is the meaning behind the name ‘Buckethead’? It’s simple, and probably more straightforward than you think – Maria’s boys, Jose, Andres, and Aleco all have giant heads (and great brains!). Throughout their life they’ve referred to themselves as The Buckethead Crew. Buckethead Ranch is a tribute to Maria’s boys, and a reminder that life is too short to take anything too seriously.
